Federal Hall has now re-opened.

Across the street from the New York Stock Exchange you'll spot a larger-than-life George Washington standing proudly atop the steps at 26 Wall Street. This address was not only the site of his first inauguration in 1789, but also the home of our nation's Federal Government, the U.S. Treasury, and New York's original City Hall.

As you'll discover, the breadth of history that unfolded at this site is awe-inspiring. Walk into the room devoted to John Peter Zenger, and hear about how his dramatic trial and acquittal on libel charges in 1735 was the defining moment for America's freedom of the press. Peer into the vaults once stacked tall with tons of gleaming gold and silver coins by the U.S. Treasury. Stand where George Washington was sworn in as our first President. You'll imagine how he must have felt when you see the tattered bible where he placed his hand, and pledged his solemn oath to America.
