The National Museum of the American Indian is located in the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, a magnificent Beaux-Arts building with a grand front staircase. It is located at One Bowling Green, between State St and Whitehall St, adjacent to the northeast corner of Battery Park and just below Bowling Green Park.


4 or 5 to Bowling Green, which stops on the west cross State St
R or W to Whitehall St, which stops on the east side of the building
1 or 9 to South Ferry. Walk three blocks north on State St to entrance of the building on Bowling Green
J, M, or Z to Wall St. Walk south on Broad, then make a right on Beaver. The Museum is just south of Bowling Green Park

M1, M6 or M15 to South Ferry. Walk three blocks north on State St to entrance of the building on Bowling Green


From the Lincoln Tunnel: Lincoln Tunnel to West Side Highway South. The West Side Highway becomes West St. Take it all the way to the end of Battery Park and look for an appropriate parking lot
From the Holland Tunnel: Take a right on Canal St, then a left on the West Side Highway. Take the West Side Highway all the way down to the end of Battery Park
From Upstate: Go over the George Washington Bridge and take the first exit to the Henry Hudson Parkway South, which merges with the West Side Highway. Take that to the end of Battery Park
East Side or FDR Drive: Take the FDR Drive all the way down to Battery Park Tunnel and State Island Ferry to Exit 1. At the first light, make a left and continue down until you reach the museum
